OK, I have found most of the PC controls for the Hydra, except for how to lock onto a target, I'm playing the mission where you steal the hydra for Torino, right after a home in the hills, and you are supposed to lock on to the three hydras who chase you and shoot them down, and I can't figure out how

B-11 has indeed a weak MG cannon, low dmg and firerate, but it also has longer range than Hydra's. With the latter you need to get pretty close to hit ground targets, risking to crash if you're not careful enough. Hydra is a good tool for getting around the map.
I'm too used to the lazer and the hydra feels really slow to me, it's hard to get used to the lack of agility. If you have an oppressor it literally takes like 30 seconds to get to the AFB from anywhere on the map.
