I was looking forward to upgrading to Catalina mainly because of the feature, Sidecar. Supposedly, one can use an iPad as an external display for their Mac. Me & my wife both have the latest MacBooks & iPad Pro 11" (2018). The problem is that we share the iPad, which doesn't support multi-user yet & the iCloud ID used their is my wife's.
Sidecar also enables you to use a MacBook Touch Bar, regardless of whether or not your Mac supports one. As usual, you can tap the Touch Bar controls with your finger or Apple Pencil. 6. Customize the Touch Bar on Mac. If your Mac has a Touch Bar, you can change settings that control which buttons are shown in it, including the Control Strip
In Monterey Apple added the ability to use one keyboard and mouse with two Macs, or a Mac and iPad, which could suit your new way of working. To find out more see: How to use the same mouse and
APPLE SIDECAR / DUET DISPLAY. Likes A cheap (or free) way to get a second screen for your laptop or desktop. Dislikes Duet can be fiddly, and can crash when you try to use it to add a third

Any way I can use Sidecar, even hacky, without putting both devices on the same Apple ID? Id like to use the Sidecar feature sometimes, but I don't want to overtake her iPad with my ID and apps, etc. Seems like such a silly restriction. I agree, I'd love to have more options to use sidecar, my only safe bet right now is to use Duet App.

Step 6. When you're ready to stop using your iPad as a drawing tablet, it's as simple as closing the app on your iPad. Just like that, you're disconnected. If you want to reconnect, it's as simple as opening the app once again. It's very user-friendly, especially if you opt to establish a connection via WiFi.

If you’re a Mac user who found that MacOS Ventura 13.3 broke the functionality of Continuity features including Universal Control, Sidecar, Universal Clipboard, HandOff, and other Continuity capabilities, you should update to MacOS Ventura 13.3.1 (or later) as soon as possible to fix those problems.

For example, you can't just use it between two iPads. However, you can use Universal Control between Macs, with no iPads involved. Apart from the at-least-one-Mac caveat, there doesn't appear to be a limit to how many devices you can control using just the one keyboard and trackpad/mouse. Universal Control is limited to mouse/trackpad and If you're using a USB-C or TB3 Mac, you may as well get a portable USB-C monitor like this one I got two to run, one using SideCar and the other using DuetDisplay

Sidecar supports iMac 27” (Late 2015) or newer, MacBook Pro (2016) or newer, Mac mini (2018), Mac Pro (2019), MacBook Air (2018), [and] MacBook (Early 2016 or newer). Sidecar works both wirelessly and over a wired connection. Wired connections don’t require WiFi and support both Lightning and USB-C cables.

I'm glad to provide an answer. You would need an iPad to use Sidecar as shown here: Use your iPad as a second display for your Mac with Sidecar. It is possible to use some iMac models as an external display, but a MacBook can't be used as one.
Apr 4, 2022. #1. Can someone with two iPads test (confirm / deny) that Sidecar will work on two iPads simultaneously? I see reports of people on 12.3 that can have 1st iPad in Sidecar,
Hi nikitakln, Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're unable to use Sidecar when using macOS Monterey. Your Mac is compatible to work with SideCar. Ensure that you have SideCar setup according to the guidance in Use an iPad as a second display for a Mac. Regards. ( 0)
Sidecar in macOS Catalina turns your iPad into a second display with just a few clicks, but it’s limited to certain Macs and iPads. Thankfully, a few third-party apps can help fill the void. Two… 8q9Yd0.
