I bought my 1st CZ 452 zmk 22lr 18 years ago at a local gun show for $250. I found it to be gorgeous and accurate. In the following years I have picked up a 455 ultra lux 22lr, a 457 varmint 17hmr, a 512 in 22wmr, and a 457 American 22lr which has an ultra lux barrel. I have also acquired a Bergara BMR 22lr, and a Ruger precision rimfire 22lr.

The Model 455 from CZ-USA is an old world style Mauser action in a rimfire, with a combination option to shoot more than one caliber in the same gun. Our test gun came with a .17HMR and a .22LR barrel. Swapping the barrels is easy and can be done in the field or at the range with the two included Allen wrenches.

I have two CZ 452s (.17 HMR & .22 Mag), a CZ 455 (.22), a Tikka T1x (.17 HMR) and a Sako Quad Hunter (.22 & .17M2). All are threaded and shot suppressed except for the CZ varmint in .17 HMR. Of these rifles, the Quad with the .22 barrel is my favorite, by far. Is a half inch rifle (@50) with Eley SVHP and is a squirrels nightmare.
This Varmint features a 525 mm (20.5") long heavy barrel to provide higher accuracy when shooting small moving and static targets at medium or longer distances. The receiver is machined having an 11mm (0.43") dovetail groove for scope mount attachment, the barrel is not fitted with sights. The stock is made from Turkish walnut.

The CZ Varmint MTR only comes in 22 LR so if you are set on 17 HMR looks like you are left with choosing a different CZ 457 model, the Tikka, or an Anschutz. Personally, if I wanted to shoot consistent ragged hole groups, I would consider a different caliber than 17 HMR as neither CCI or Winchester make "match quality" ammo. :bthumb: CZ 457 Varmint in caliber 22 Magnum.
