The 1090 R I test rode (twice) the other week felt quite normal to me but perhaps that's because I already ride a 690 and an EXC, so I.m guessing its normally clunky and i've just got used to it. A little at first and then more and more after that. KTM claims it's our ethanol fuel that is the culprit. I pulled mine apart and lightly sanded the slide until it moved freely within the sending unit.

The engine has been around for quite a while and is constantly getting improvement from KTM. KTM is ranking higher on reliability than BMW lately. But so was Harley Davidson, lol. KTM came in 8th for reliability on road bikes, BMW came in 11th after consumer reports from a large survey. KTM’s dirt bikes were rated well. aikDyrx.
