In case of the Kodiaq and other new gen (post 2012) VAG cars, when you enter the menu for the Climatronic, it shows an option to turn on automatic recirculation ON or OFF. I always keep this option selected, and then the system detects the odour and dust thanks to the AC filter in the glove box and some sensory wizardry, it keeps shuffling

Petrol and, while the Superb goes very well with the 1.4TSI 150 engine, you're going to need more to lug the blunter Kodiaq along, so better the 2.0 TSI 180 that still has 320Nm torque and no AdBlue heater or DPF to worry about.
